I’d like to share that I just updated the game to the latest version (13.5). And in this update we'll continue Pari's story.

Pari is Keens True love! But after being hit by an asteroid storm, she now sufferes permanent memory loss. So Keen decided to travel back in time, to change the past and avoid this accident! And in this part of the story, Keen will try to reach Pari, by going through the girls dorm at Techversity. But getting to her will be way more challenging then expected. And a lot more fun too!

And here is another small peak behind the scenes!

Now for this update I've drawn 14 new backgrounds, which is at least twice as much as for any previous update. And all these backgrounds are for the 'girls dorm', a brand new location that Keen will be exploring in this part of the game.

It's always a lot work making these backgrounds, but at the same time it's also a very enjoyable proces. And this is how I make these backgrounds.

On the left you see my first sketch of Pari's room. Now at this point I'm not really trying to draw a nice picture, but I'm more trying to figure out how I can tell a bit of the story, by putting the right items in the background.
In the next step -in the middle - I start cleaning up the sketch, by drawing clear lines and filling items with a solid color.
And on the right- in the last step - I try to bring all colors together into a simple color cheme, after which I color the light effects into the art. And that's how I make the backgroyunds for Space Rescue :)
Next?

Well, Space Rescue is shaping up really nicel! I just have to implement two more big stories, and finish a few others by adding some XXX scenes. After that I also have to add things live achievements and coiceovers, but all and all thing are going well :)

So I'll be working on that in the upcomming period, and I hope to release another update in few months again. If you like to know when that is, then please visit the FAQ for the most up-to-date ETA of the next update.

I’d like to share that I just updated the game to the latest version (13.0).
In this version I added the start of Pari's story. She is the mysterious astronaut from the intro who has been hit by a meteor storm, and was placed in a healing pod to recover. But this time she will finally wake up , so let's go and meet her!

The update also includes many new characters, a new xxx scene for Tonda, and let's you even travel back to Keen's schooldays - so I hope you will enjoy the update!

Behind the scenes

Now for this chapter I had to imagine quite a few new characters. And this is something I love to do! So let me share a bit more about how I approach that.

Now each character has a unique role to play in the game. Some characters will help you, others will hinder you- and quite a few will eh... want you. And so the challenge for me, is to imagine how I can best show these intentions through my character designs. And I discovered that that these intensions can best be show through a characters pose & their facial expressions.

Below you can see a few examples of this. For example, the girl on the left is a bit distant to others - which I tried to show by turning her face away from the MC while talking.
And the old man below on the left, is intended to be sincere and a good listener, and so I drew him standing up straight and gave him a friendly look. The old man to his right however, is more lost in his own thoughts, and so he doesn't really look at the MC, but more past him. And the guy on the right..., eh, he's just very concernd with himself :)

Well, and that's just one of the things I try to keep in mind while making characters designs. Their clothing, locations and way of talking are for example other things to consider. But, more on that next time!
Next?

Well, Space Rescue is shaping up nicely! Most of the stories are already complete, and the few that remain are already partially done. It will of course still take a while before everything will be done, but the end is definitly in sight now :)

Meanwhile I've already started working on the next part , and I hope to release again in few months (You'll find the new release dates in FAQ).

I’d like to share that I just updated the game to the latest version (12.5).
In this version I added the complete story of Neeva! She's part of a cute wrestleteam who've been training for months- hoping to win the upcoming championship. But when the team discovers keens poor physical condition, they can't look away- and offer to get him back in shape. ...And soon one thing will lead to the next!
For this update I tried to add a bit of extra comedy to the story - and made a dozen small animations to bring keens trainings sessions to life. I hope you will enjoy it!

And like always, I also love to show you a bit of how I actually make Space Rescue.
Now one of the things I worked on, was a treadmill-mini-game. The idea here is that you simply 'step', whenever a footprint gets beneath your shoe. And if you do it without tripping too much, you'll win the game.

Now visually I really wanted to use this perspective for the mini-game.
I liked this because it would show some depth in the holographic screen. But the fact that you as the player are not aligned with the screen, just felt too weird. So in the end I went again with the simpler, frontal perspecivive. And this actually works great for the gameplay :)

These are just sketches of course, but I hope you'll enjoy the final mini-game!

I’d like to share that I just updated the game to the latest version (12.0).
And in this update I added the story of a Biker girl who is seeking shelter aboard the Green Beetle. She's trouble, even for Keen. But by helping her out she will eventually open up-...and show a totally different side of herself :)
And as a little extra, I made the ships that arrive on the map, now also appear on the Bridge. So Keep an eye out for that as well.

Now this time I added some extra content to various existing stories. And, I made a start with the Captains story! Now the Captains story will be the final (and longest) story in the game, and it will reveal the bigger plot Space Rescue! Now I won't say to much about it, but I really hope you will enjoy it!
(Oh, and although this is the final story of the game- it's not the last one that I will add; there are still some sub-stories that need to be added as well).

Like always, I want to show you a bit of how I actually make Space Rescue.
Now as part of this update , I added the Meeting Room to the game- because eventually a big scene will take place here. And to make a room like this somewhat memorable, I wondered; how would a futuristic meeting room differ from the ones we have now?
Of course I could add a flashy holographic map-projector, but that's too fancy for Space Rescue right? Everything in this spaceship is a bit clunky and silly. So I imagined the highlight in the room would be 'carousell chairs'. which are chairs that roll out when people enter the room, and return if they leave. And the fun part is of course that they would get totally confused when there are more people then chairs :)
And so then I ended up with this room design.
Well, I guess you are mainly here for the sexy content of the game- which I love to draw! But designing this odd old-fashioned, yet futuristic spaceship is a lot of fun too :)

Behind the scenes
Well, without spoiling anything of the story... this is a situation you will encouter in the newest part of the game.
And here I really tried to create a more spooky atmosphere - which is of course very different from the usually very bright and colorful scenes in the game. Now to do this, I first made the 6 animation frames for this broken robot-hand- and then placed it in a sort of neglected looking part of the ship. But that alone felt a bit boring, and so then I added the animated-fog in the forground... and finally, I made the blinking shadow effect for the background (by copying the background, making it lighter, and then cut out a part again, to create the shadow of the robot-hand).
Well, this was really a fun scene to work on for me. And once I had this, I could then use the same effects for many more parts of the story. But...you'll probably see that soon enough :)

Now this update completes Lorza her story, which means Keen will finally get his long awaited massage :) And I also updated the ship map and brought together all story elements involving the repairs of pink shuttle... which can now be fully repaired.

Well, I always like to share some of what I made...but I don't want to spoil things :) So, therefore let's have a look at the map.
It was once the first thing I made for Space Rescue, and it was a big help when designing the actual rooms for the game. But after detailing a room, it wouldn't always look like it's map-icon anymore. And so it was about time to bring the map up to date again. But it wasn't just cosmetics. For example the medbay really needed a door & so I finally added one :)

Well, I made a lot of new art for this update. And as usual, I like to show how it's made. So, one of the new rooms in this update is the Wrestlers Changeroom.
Now for this room, I felt it should be instantly clear that it would be used by show-wrestlers. So I started with some extreme neon lights in the room, and filled it with weird costumes & wrestling gear. Oh- and of course I added a buddy-bag. You know, a bag to practice your wrestle moves on :)
And here you can see a bit of my drawing proces for this room - I hope you find it interesting.

Well, I made a lot of new art for this update. And as usual, I like to show how that art gets made. So, one of the new rooms in this update is the Guestroom.
Now there is actually a lot going on there For example, there are retractable beds, a closet with shutter, and there's a hatch. And this is just the empty room. Throughout the game the room will be occupied by several (rescued) guests as well. This makes the room of course very interesting...but also tricky to draw; for it has to work in every situation.
Well, here you can see part my drawing proces for this room - I hope you find it interesting :)

And that's all the news I have for now. But meanwhile I already started working on the next update, which will continue the story of the Wrestle Team. And I hope to release it again in about 3 months.

Now I always like show a bit of the art I made for the update. But since this part of the game is all about 'finding out what happened'... I can't really do that without spoiling things :) So I'll just share this image from a Keypad-puzzle you will encounter. Now making this keypad wasn't as simple as I initially thought... since the un-pressed keys had to hide the pressed keys, while at the same time, their size also determines the clickable zones on screen...
So making this puzzle, was a real puzzle by itself!

Now I also thought it might be interesting to show you a bit more of what goes into making the mini-games within Space Rescue. So here you see the 'Crane Game' that appears in the Junkers-story; and the many individual parts the game consists out of.
Now when designing a mini-game, I always need to make sure it fits within a certain safe-zone. So the interactive zone of the mini-game should not overlap the HUD, and there always needs to be room to display the text bar at the bottom. So for that I use a special safety grid, as you can see in this gif-image. It's actually one of the first things I made for Space Rescue, and still very useful!

I’d like to share that I just updated the game to the latest version!
This time I added quite a bit of content to the 'Junkers'-storyline. And during this part of the adventure, Keen will learn some new creative skills, meet a familiar face, and gets to sweat quite a bit... in more then one way!

This has been added – story wise
A total of 162 new images were added to the game, which are part of:

New location: Plasma Forge
New Location: Pumping Station
New mini-game: The Plasma Anvil
An XXX scene for Mindy
An XXX scene for Valerie

This has been added – functionality

Each interactive object is now named in the HUD (on mouse-over).
Locked locations are now grey on the map (to make navigation easier).
There is now an icon on the map, showing where keen came from (for better orientation).
The logo-button has been expanded; Press 'L' up to 4 times to show the Space-Rescue logo in various corners of the screen.
The 'rounded edges' have been refined (to emulate old TV screen/ part of a feature that's work in progress. Later on this can be turned on/off.)
The inventory system has been optimized for development purposes; which also enabled me to add SFX to the item pickups.
And I fixed the bugs & spelling errors you found as well, thank you!
Keep in mind while playing...

Old save games cannot be re-used (even though they might show up in the load menu). This is because the game-code keeps changing during development, but the save-games 'don't know this'. So starting from a save, will cause problems.
Instead, please use the 'skip-buttons' to start the game near the chapter/girl where you left off. There is also a text-skip-button at the bottom of the screen, in case you want to speed things up (just be sure to enable it in the settings-menu).

Here I like to give you a glimpse of the creation process of the game :)
Now this is the kitchen of the ship. And everytime I design a background like this, I always start with a rough sketch. And from there I refine it more & more, till I get to the final result. Now I must say, I love drawing the girls in this game, but... I equally enjoy imagining all this retro-futuristic kitchen equipement! There is just something fun about it all :)

This has been added – story wise

The story of Mindy & Sandy now has an ending. Or actually, two endings! You can revisit the Jacuzzi, to trigger the alternative ending.
Keen will be send off to a new spaceship called 'The Junkyard'. Here you will meet Valerie & and have to puzzle your way through a new mini-game. (this story starts after you completed Sophie her story)
This time, Lorza will be giving various massages to her many clients. And Keen will discover more about how alien Lorza really is!
This has been added – functionality

I added ‘Skip’ -buttons to the game ( Main menu → start → skip ahead). With these buttons you can now start at any chapter you like!
You can now press 'L' to show the Space-Rescue logo on screen; which will be included in screenshots, when pressing ‘S’.
The screen got rounded edges, to emulate an old TV screen ( this is part of a feature that's work in progress).

Just for fun, I also wanted to share a bit more on how I create Space Rescue. So, this is an example of how I draw the backgrounds for the game. The image below part of the new update. And as you can see in the Gif, it all starts with a rough sketch. Next I do the linework, then the colors. And finially I flatten the image to add the final details. Well, I hope you find it interesting :)

Apart from that, I also hope to be able to reorganise the Steam-page a bit. For example I want to add a Roadmap & expand the FAQ - to give you all more insight into my plans. Besides that, I also like to structure the discussion-section some more, so that your great suggestions won’t get lost over time :)
