Yep. Sorbetta will be free as soon as Valve approves the change. It shouldn't take more than about a week, so if you're thinking about picking it up, hold off! (Unless you really want to support me, thanks!)
So, I'm sure a few of you have some questions. I'll do my best to answer them all:
Why free, and why now?
Well, to be frank: the game has made back its initial investment. I made back the money I spent on it, and feel that it was, for all intents and purposes, a success. So as a way of saying thank you to those who have followed along with this little journey of mine, I'm releasing it for free. For always. I figured it was time. Honestly, I meant to do this exactly on the 2 year anniversary, but it slipped my mind.
Just take the money and run? What about those who paid for it?
Well, unfortunately I can't really give them anything for being early supporters of this project and game, other than my deepest gratitude. And I feel that the game has hit an age that it's now about getting it out to as many people who will be interested in it. To those who did pay for it, and feel slighted/offended by this decision, I'm deeply and truly sorry. I hope you know that I'm doing this not to hurt you or belittle your financial support of this game.
I guess that's fair. So what now?
I've put the request in to Valve, and now I simply have to wait for their approval. It could take up to a week for the new price to come into effect.
As for the future, I've got a couple of projects I'm currently working on, so who knows? Maybe something will be out by the end of the year if we're lucky! ;)
Are you making the DLC free?
No. I feel that if people want to continue to show me support, they're free to purchase the wallpapers for the game's characters. I will NOT be increasing the price to compensate for the base game becoming free, either!
