Maintaining your hideout is one of the most important aspects of the game. Providing your raiders with a well-stocked hideout in terms of food, water, and beer is crucial - but equally so are the construction of buildings to keep your organization running smoothly.

There's an assortment of buildings that can be constructed if you have enough wood and scrap. Buildings can serve many purposes, some converting raw ingredients into consumables, such as a Brewery (barley into beer), Ammo Press (saltpeter into ammo), a Butcher (cows into meat) and many more.

Other buildings serve other purposes for your organization, such as the Gambling Den (increasing morale), the Counterfeit Shop (manufacturing fake currency), Salt Shacks (decreasing chances of sickness), a Water Well (generating water), the Fight Pits (passively increasing XP) and more.

There are many other building types as well.
In order to construct certain buildings, you will require the services of a specialist in your organization. These people are typically captured in the wasteland and pressed into service. Some examples of specialists include a Madame (for the brothel), an Armorsmith (for the armor shop), a Surgeon (for building the hospital), a smelter (for building the furnace), and more.

Labor
Once a building is constructed, it must be populated with Workers (in addition to the Specialist which oversees the operation of the building itself.

Workers can be extorted from settlements, captured after battle, or purchased from slavers. Once workers have been acquired, they must then be brought back to your hideout. They can then either be assigned to a building, or if your raiders are hungry, can be butchered for meat.

Each building can have up to five workers assigned, improving the output of that particular building. So it's important to pick and choose which buildings you want to be outputting at maximum efficiency, as workers in the wasteland are hard to come by (at least without a fight).
