If you are unsure about purchasing the game, why don't you check the fantastic playthrough of Aeon of Sands by Lotaeri on his Youtube channel?
We would not normally endorse a youtube playthrough, but in this case, Lotaeri did something special: he explained the game mechanics in a clearer and more concise way than we did, and he played through the game acknowledging the "Choose Your Own Adventure" nature of it, and therefore not spoiling too much of it.
