Introducing: Weapon Mastery

The Weapon Mastery system is a brand new way to progress your favorite weapons, earn new wraps, and unlock the ability to use your favorite weapons on other Rogues that fight with the same weapon types. Weapon Mastery launches in our next update, so we wanted to take a chance to talk about what exactly you can expect and why.

When we set out to create a weapon mastery system, we rallied behind three core goals:

First, achievements. We wanted each weapon to have its own unique "niche" inside the game and for players to feel that they can master the personality of these weapons. We wanted to capture "how" with specific achievements for each weapon.

Second, let's talk about flexibility and depth through meaningful choices. Right now, you can pick a Rogue, but you're tied to the weapons they have. However, if you can mix and match, the depth of the game expands exponentially.

Last, we wanted to provide meaningful rewards for the way you play. Using the KA30 as an example, through levels 1-5, at each level, you'll unlock a weapon wrap specific to the KA30. At level 5, whenever you land a kill with the KA30, the mention in the Kill Feed will show up in gold, and you'll receive a banner for your profile. You'll also unlock the weapon to use across all Rogues that can wield that weapon class (in this example, assault rifles).

Up until now, we haven't discussed weapon class much, so let's dig in.

  • Each Rogue has access to two classes of primary weapons, such as a sniper rifle or an assault rifle. An example of this would be Phantom, who has two Primary options: the classic LR15 Fullbody, a sniper rifle, and the Nightshade, an assault rifle.
  • Each weapon belongs to a "class," such as the LR15 Fullbody, which belongs to the "sniper rifle" class of weapons.
  • As a weapon becomes unlocked, it will then become accessible to Rogues that use that weapon class.

Let's use Dima as an example. Right now, Dima has access to the KA30, an assault rifle, as well as the MAMBA, a DMR. As you progress in mastery with the MX-R, Dahlia's DMR, you'll be able to use it instead of the MAMBA whenever you pick Dima. Dima will not gain access to sniper rifles or shotguns; however, his arsenal of assault rifles and DMRs will expand over time.

But how does it work?

  • As you enter the new "Weapons" tab from the main menu, you will be able to browse through each weapon in Rogue Company and see a series of milestones to complete.
  • Completing these milestones provides Weapon Mastery Points to raise that weapon's level.
  • Each level unlocks more significant challenges, which players can progress quicker with Reputation.
  • Additionally, mastering a weapon class or achieving the status of Weapons Master will unlock reactive wraps!

Mastering a class of weapons is easy. As you play, you’ll gain mastery in a weapon by using it (yes, even using dropped weapons) and completing challenges unique to that weapon. Once your mastery in that weapon reaches level 5, it can be used by all Rogues that have access to that weapon class. Unlocking weapons earns points towards unlocking the Weapons Master achievement, which grants the Nova Legendary Weapon Wrap, the Ultimate Weapons Master, and the Weapons Master Legendary Banner!

We hope you enjoy this new system and change to Rogue Company and find new ways to save the day, look good, and get paid!
