Raiders of the Lost Island - a labor of love!

Nominate Raiders of the Lost Island for Labor of Love Award!

Here are a few fun facts about it that you probably didn't know:

  • Raiders of the Lost Island started at the Global Game Jam, back in 2017.
  • Inspired from board games like Forbidden Island and the way my kids wanted to grab those beautiful treasures for themselves, despite endangering the whole team.
  • It is my longest and biggest project as an indie game developer.
  • It is the game me and my family played the most.
  • Over 280 hours recorded in Steam, though we started long before the Steam version was ready.
  • My 2 kids grew up raiding together... well, most of the time one against each other :D
  • They just played today with their cousin. They lost :p
  • Good anger management tool. We still struggle - watch our live broadcasts :)
  • Created as a solo indie developer in my spare time. Lots of long nights and weekends... no regrets!
  • Over 4 years of development, in total 3646 work hours until today.
  • Released on 2 platforms: PC and Nintendo Switch.
  • Released on 4 stores: Steam, Nintendo Store, Itch.io, and Stove Indie.
  • Localized in 9 languages, including Korean now.
  • Payed me back about $1.5 per work hour so far, but who's in for the money anyway!?
  • Presented at Gamescom, Casual Connect London, Dev-Play, and many other.
  • Helped me make many new friends among indie developers and players.
  • Freshly updated after one year adding 50 skills... because my kid said she wants to play again :)
  • A few more features left in the design document. But that's a story for another time...

Keep close for more, as Raiders is here to stay!
