Magnus Lore Reveal #5 Starfin

The Origin of Magnus is a heavily debated topic among the denizens of the Library. Even with our extensive records and collections, there doesn’t seem to be a concrete or even unified theory to how Magnus are how they are. This is mostly due to the myriad of tales and legends that surround their creation, but also in part due to the many varieties of Magnus that are considered an anomaly to the natural world. One such anomaly are the Starfins of Vokka Island, commonly seen floating about the coastal beaches of the island.

Though the Starfin has a piscine-like appearance, it is definitely not a fish, lacking the ability to swim and most importantly breathe underwater. The Starfin can usually be observed lounging by the shallow waters, bracing against the low waves of Vokka, munching on vegetation that was brought in by the tides. Starfins, no matter at what point of their growth, are extremely shy and tend to avoid contact with other species of magnus, the sight of a Starjade running away from a Pruni is certainly the comical highlight of the expedition.

The Starfin is able to release a debilitating miasma that can slow and sometimes stun any aggressors that come uncomfortably close to its territory. This helps them create an opening to escape, however should an enemy still persist then they are able to concentrate their miasmatic magics to attack and push back foes. The Starjades have by far the best offensive ability in the family, sporting fins that are able to project strong magic forces that can slice through most defence. These creatures should be left alone to bask in the sun, make sure to not release them into water should you find one hurt.
