A good number of people were not able to start up the game correctly (showed you as dead immediately) due to a save file permissions bug on some windows machines.
I have changed the save file location to %APPDATA% which will appear in the steam application folder that the game launches from.
If you already have a save file at the old location: C:\BlockedAndLoaded
You can copy the Save_File.xml located there into the %APPDATA% folder where steam installed Blocked and Loaded. Once there, rename the Save_File.xml to BandL_Save_File.xml and you will retain your old save.
My apologies for this complicated process, this issue did not come up during Steam testing, my own testing on four different pcs, etc. If you really like your character then do the process above to restore it.
