This week we’ll be discussing some adjustments to stats we will be making.
General Changes
- Acceleration: Acceleration will now be both Acceleration and Deceleration, rather than having there be two separate stats
- Current Navigation: A new stat that increases the benefits of using currents
- Pickup Range: A new stat that increases the radius of your ship’s ability to pick up boons and treasure
- Sight Range: Removed as a modifiable stat, though the mechanic will still be active in game
- Sail HP: Sail damage states will now trigger based on Sail HP, rather than as a percentage of Sail HP, making Sail HP actually valuable
- Minimum Effective Crew: Already existed, but will be exposed and modified by the new mates to modify the number of crewmen required to operate the ship at full efficiency
The above means that some minor adjustments to hardpoints will occur, but for the most part, the major changes will be to the mates.
Mate Stats
With the new mate leveling system coming in requiring us to basically remake all the mates, we took the opportunity to look at our current stats and make some adjustments.
While most mates will generally be staying the same, some will have their stats shuffled around a bit to make more of the mates viable for a broader range of builds:
- Powder Monkey: Hull Damage, Crit Damage, Firing Delay
- Master Gunner: Sail Damage, Crew Damage, Accuracy
- Lookout: Pickup Range, Crit Chance, Cannon Range
- Shipwright: Hull HP, Hull Repair, Hull Resist, Ramming Resist
- Bosun: Armor HP, Armor Repair, Armor Resist, Critical Damage Resist
- Sailmaster: Sail HP, Sail Repair, Sail Damage Resist
- Navigator: Top Speed, Acceleration, Current Navigation
- Helmsman: Turn Rate, Turn Acceleration, Ramming Damage
- Cook: Captain Ability Cooldown, Combat Flag Duration, Minimum Effective Crew
- Quartermaster: Reload Speed, Boarding Duration, Boarding Cooldown, Boarding Duration Resist
- Surgeon: Crew HP, Crew Heal, Crew Damage Resist, Crew Strength
Each mate type will have 2 or more variants, each with one or more of the stats listed. Some will have all the stats, others will have less but have higher values.
