Our first patch after Early Access introduces a new weapon: the laser pistol. The new pistol has its own ammunition and is a weapon that does continual damage by holding down the trigger. They are somewhat rare to find in the game and are excellent weapons against any target in an open area or in the air. The guns were added to the tutorial as well so you can check them out.
The other change in this patch is an adjustment to make armor more effective in reducing explosive damage as it was not being applied before. This should make it a bit easier to survive grenades and rockets.
Lastly, we cut the Queue time in half from 5 minutes to 2.5 minutes so you can get into a match quicker.
The patch notes are a tad bit short as we have spent the past few days getting the build ready to ship on the Oculus store and work has began on a new map so a lot of our time has been devoted towards that. We are working on a new outdoor map and we will have more information to come about the new map here very soon, but right now we are still in the early planning and performance testing aspects of the design.
Armor
- Armor is now effective in reducing explosive damage. It is also still effective against other types.
Audio
- Improved Beam audio mixing.
Graphics
- Beams are now more emissive.
- Added new low impact particle effects.
Interactive Objects
- Reduced the radius of exploding cannisters.
Servers
- Reduced waiting time in lobby from 5 minutes to 2.5 minutes so matches will get started a bit quicker.
Weapons
- Reduced the radius of rocket and grenade explosions to varying degrees in a balance pass.
- Introduced a new laser pistol. You can hold down the trigger to continually fire the beam. It will keep track of a target it hit and can damage a player up to 10 times a second. They do less damage than other weapons, but are very easy to hit a target with due to the continual target checking.
- Flick Reloading with handguns received another tweak due it not working properly with the laser weapons. It should work similar to the way it was before, but the math is a little different under the hood.
