A quick patch that makes new games default to easy mode, this is to help new players not be punished so hard while they learn the ropes. Easy mode is more casual, it gives you 99 lives and softens enemies, increases starting stats etc. Of course you can still choose normal or hard modes before beginning a game.
Normal and Hard modes are highly recommended if you are looking for a challenge.
