Holding Out - For The Win

Hello everyone!

The team has continued to be hard at work since launch. We have been busy tracking down and fixing issues that you, the players, have been reporting. Some of these are happening behind the scenes (such as fixing a matchmaking issue which happened earlier this week), while others are targeted for our first major patch in the coming days.

But that is not all! We're already working on our first major free content pack, for all Incursion owners, later this year. Introducing Holdout - A One or Two player continuous onslaught of enemies for you (and a friend) to fend off, before succumbing to the horde. Do you have what it takes to survive and last the longest? Challenge yourself against others in the leaderboards to see who really is the ultimate Zed Killer!

Before we go into additional details on how the mode currently works, keep in mind everything is subject to change as we continue to iterate on the gameplay. With that in mind, here is a current look at how it is all coming together!

After players complete a level in the campaign, that level will be opened up to be played in Holdout. Inside this level will be a single location that players are tasked with defending as long as possible. As previously mentioned, there is a continuous onslaught of Zeds - this means no breaks for trading. Starting with a pistol and knife, players will need to scavenge for better weapons as time goes on. As players progress, the Zeds will start getting more aggressive and more challenging Zeds will enter the fray, including multiple bosses at once!

The team is busy prototyping cool new unique features and mechanics to add to the mode that we aren’t ready to detail out just yet! We hope you have enjoyed this first look at what is to come! We’ll be sharing more details as work continues and we welcome your feedback.
