CUR3D Steam Edition is alive

Long live CUR3D

Perhaps one or the other noticed: RUHRSOURCE GmbH - the company that originally developed CUR3D - had to file for bankruptcy in October 2020. However, we do not let our loyal CUR3D customers down! CUR3D lives and will be further developed by CUR3D UG (limited liability).

(Almost) everything new

At that time, RUHRSOURCE GmbH dedicated itself to simplifying additive manufacturing. The young startup from Bochum succeeded in doing that too. In a very short time they blossomed into a respected service provider for 3D printing. Above all, however, the transfer of knowledge about getting started with and professionalizing 3D printing for everyone was the top priority. The main reason was the release of the CUR3D software in November 2016, which greatly simplifies 3D printing. Since then, every 3D model can be 3D printed in every scale without a lot of technical know-how.

The founders of CUR3D UG (limited liability) adhere to this. From the former developers, the heads of development - Christopher Maiwald (external CTO) and Ernst Christian Fleischmann (CEO) - are still with us.

CUR3D UG (limited liability) has been exclusively responsible for the development and sales of the 3D printing prepress CUR3D since June 2021.

The official sale of version 3.0.2.0 started with resounding success in October 2021.

Liebe Steam-Community, DANKE!

Without you, the makers, hobbyists and 3D printing enthusiasts, CUR3D would not exist.
Thank you for making CUR3D what it is and will be.

What has changed in CUR3D version 3.0.2.0?

  • Windows 7 wird wieder unterstützt
    • CUR3D stopped working on Windows 7 due to a bug that occurred through a security log. We have fixed this problem.

  • The shop, service provider and online library for 3D printers have been removed again

    • Between us: this feature didn't feel right and was immature, which is why we (for now) removed it.

  • Bugfix: When switching from the summary to the settings, the previously set values changed.

    • The default values were displayed again. This was related to the online library for 3D printers, which we are also revising. The problem is now solved.

What's next?

  • Feature: Creation of 3D printer profiles
    • A feature that is already available in the Professional Edition is the creation of 3D printer profiles. You will be able to create your own profiles for your 3D printer. There is currently only one fictitious example 3D printer in your library ("RUHRSOURCE Generic 3D Printer"). This has the interior dimensions 150 x 150 x 150 mm.
    • With your own profiles you are able to compare the automatic calculations of CUR3D on your 3D printer.

  • DLC: File format *.step/ *.stp

    • With this you are able to process step files.
    • Unfortunately, due to licensing fees, this file format DLC cannot be offered as cheaply as the others, which we are very sorry about.

  • DLC: File format *.iges/ *.igs

    • With this you are able to process Iges files.
    • Unfortunately, due to licensing fees, this file format DLC cannot be offered as cheaply as the others, which we are very sorry about.

  • DLC: Object tree

    • This enables you to print individual details from 3D models that consist of several objects.
    • The object tree only works with file formats that support nested 3D objects. For example *.obj or *.3ds

Unfortunately, we still have to address something unpleasant

The return of CUR3D after extensive use

If you don't necessarily need CUR3D, please use the free demo version

Unfortunately, we often found in the past that CUR3D was purchased, used extensively and then reimbursed for the purchase price. Thanks to us, these "customers" had a 3D printable 3D model that they probably wouldn't have without us and we went completely empty-handed.

Please don't do that. The development of CUR3D must be financed.

If you "just want to try out" CUR3D, please use one of our demo versions: https://cur3d.de/product-category/demo/

This gives us a better overview of the development and financing of CUR3D. Wrong refund reasons do not help in the further development of CUR3D.

Thank you!
