I've been hard at work the past few days getting a full system into Rock 'N Roll which allows you to sell every type of resource you collected in the previous level for your choice of either bonus score points OR for cash. Extra points is always tempting not only to increase your score, but also because that's the easiest way to get extra lives. Cash is tempting with some nice upgrades and purchasable items to help you take on the ever increasingly challenging levels ahead of you.
Here's a look at what's been added to and changed with Rock 'N Roll Beta version .50:
ADDED:
------------------------
Resources can now be sold if you complete a level, and you'll get to choose whether to sell each type of resource (iron, titanium, platinum etc) for either score points or for cash.
Cash earned can be saved up or used between levels on the Ship Upgrade screen to purchase:
- Increased Rotation Speed (7 upgrades available, each costing more money than the last)
- Increased Firing Power (9 upgrades available, each costing more money than the last)
- Extra "Spi-Roll" attacks (prices on these fluctuate every time you enter the Ship Upgrade screen)
- Increased Power-Up Time (each power-up time increase costs more money than the last)
Extra Ships can drop just like a power up at random during game play. (approx a 4% chance out of the 9 possible power-ups which could spawn) You'll need to maneuver your ship and collect it before it disappears to earn the extra life. Note that extra ships are also earned by scoring over 20,000 points, 50,000 points, and every 50,000 points thereafter. Extra ships cannot be purchased with cash.
CHANGES:
------------------------
Controller controls have been made to be slightly less sensitive. Also previously in version 0.42, using the controller to thrust was done by moving your left thumb stick upwards. Due to some beta testers finding this frustrating with the same thumb stick also controlling clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation of your ship, the thrust control has now been changed to the Right Throttle button on the controller (R2). (Keyboard controls remain unchanged from before)
Many screens and fonts have been changed to give the game a better overall look.
Several small game balances and minor changes have also been made in this patch.
* Much more to come to Rock 'N Roll in the coming days before it officially launches on Friday, July 14th! Some changes coming include a deadly new enemy called the V.D.S., high scores tracking, and options to better adjust your volumes and resolution as well as controller sensitivity and more!
