I've updated the test build with controller support for the main title screen menu!
- Use the D-pad to cycle through the buttons or selections.
- Press A to activate a button.
- In the character selection screen you can use the D-pad to choose a character, make a new character, or delete a character.
- In character creation, pressing up or down on the D-pad highlights the various customization options, pressing right or left cycles through the options. Moving the right stick left or right turns the character. Pressing X will close any window that has a Close button. Pressing B while in the main menu will open the settings UI.

The only parts of the UI that are not set up for the controller are the settings screen and entering a character name. I might add a virtual keyboard at some point, but since you almost never enter text it'll likely be on the back-burner for a bit. Adding controller support to the settings UI will require a lot of re-writing of the system so I'm going to hold off on that for a while too. Again since it's not a UI that is used often I think that's ok for now.
Next up is to get controller support for all of the in-game UI such as inventory, craftng, looting, building, etc. That's going to be by far the largest undertaking. I'm probably going to work on some other things while I add controller support to those UI.
To get the test build:
1. In the Steam Client Library where it lists all of your games, right click on HammerHelm
2. Click Preferences
3. In the window that opens, select the "Betas" Tab
4. Enter the password to download this build - ControllerTest - and click Check Code
5. You should get a message that the code is correct
6. Click the drop-down box and select BigUpdateTest
Steam should immediately start a new download with the test client. The new game should be called "HammerHelm [bigupdatetest]". Once the download is complete you can launch the game.
To get back to the Alpha client:
1. In the Steam Client Library where it lists all of your games, right click on HammerHelm
2. Click Preferences
3. In the window that opens, select the "Betas" Tab
4. Choose “None” from the drop down
5. Steam should then revert back to the Alpha client
