Happy New Year & we wish everyone the best in 2018!
[Game Play]
- 1. General Character balance to promote teamwork and team-wide skill usage. - Refer to ‘Character balance notes’ below
- 2. Construction Site (EXD) map respawn location rebalance. - We have changed the respawn point for the team that brings the marker to their spawn point in order to counter marker spawn camping
- 3. Matchmaking minimum requirement changes. (room creation- 4:4 -> 5:5 / further map votes- 3:3 -> 4:4) - We have reduced the total number of players required to join a new game in the past due to lack of concurrent players. It was our intention to promote faster matchmaking queues at low concurrent number of users. However, faster matchmaking was at the cost of more frequent 6v6 complete team play experience. - Through the revision of minimum required number of players for matchmaking, we are expecting more frequent ‘full’ matches for everyone to enjoy.
[System]
- 1. SEA(South East Asia) Server added
[Content]
- 1. Christmas package (Seasonal Skins) are no longer available through in-game store or though reward crates.
[Bug Fixes]
[Known Issue]
- 1. Group matchmaking queue error connecting your group to other regional servers. (currently being fixed)
- 2. Fullscreen & UI display error (currently being fixed)
Character Balance Notes:
We consider this section as one of the most important update made in this patch as it is directly connected to how we intent for game play experience to be transferred through to our users.
When we consider Metro Conflict: The Origin, we believe one of the core elements we would like to highlight is Character uniqueness and respective skill utilization as a team. With this being said, MC Team took a careful look into what and how we could alter or modify segments of the game to further emphasize the importance of such team play.
We have collected various feedback from our awesome community members and started to conduct internal testing with significant changes made to characters & skill sets.
Understanding how current version of EXD works as a fast-paced aim-reliant game, we wanted to slow down the overall pace of the game and promote larger battle scenarios with more than 3-4 players per side working together whilst retaining the importance of individual aim.
Through our internal testing, we have seen how our changes in this patch have successfully stressed the value of teamwork more so than ever.
There are two major changes;
- 1. Improvement in character survivability. - Characters are now able to withstand more punishment before becoming defeated in the firefight. This factors into slowing down the overall gameplay speed and also promote a more strategic approach teams to consider advantageous positions.
- 2. Improvement in character specific ‘roles’. - We were careful not to rework characters in a way where their identity is completely altered. Rather, we focused on granting each character a unique role to be played within a team setting without categorizing them as ‘Tank’, ‘DPS’, or ‘Support’.
Character specific changes:
- 1. All characters have had their HP modified to withstand a bit more punishment respectively to the role they should play within the team. Character Skill Pre-change
- 2. We have not (yet) implemented changes to all weapons in exception of Sniper Rifles and Grenades. Bolt-action (1 hit kill) snipers have a long history throughout FPS games and we did not want to remove that style through this change. Therefore, Sniper Rifle damage has been modified. Hand Grenades have had their damage increased as well.
We are excited to hear your feedback on our Character rebalance and hope to see more team play in action. It is important for everyone to understand that these changes are not final in any sense and we will continue to modify areas to improve the overall user experience. Please continue to share your feedback with us through our Discord, Steam Community Hub, and Forums suggestions & feedback section.
Thank you
MC Team.
