It's finally here! The eagerly-promised and much-anticipated major content update for Diving Trunks: v1.1 CHANGING TIDES!
I apologise for the considerable delay (my PC being struck by lightning sure didn't help) though hopefully the trunkloads of new and exciting features will have you trumpeting with joy. :)
DIVING TRUNKS v1.1 CHANGING TIDES UPDATE NOTES
NEW FEATURES:
DIFFICULTY MODES:
Beginners through to hardcore gamers can now play at a difficulty level that reflects their ability:
- Simple: a very basic challenge for the inexperienced; suitable for youngsters
- Easy: a decent challenge for those not wishing to stress
- Normal: a standard challenge for the average gamer
- Hard: a more intense challenge for those wanting to prove themselves
- Extreme: a serious challenge reserved only for the elite gamer
- Chaos: an unpredictable challenge of mixed difficulty
POWER-UPS:
Collect and use various special abilities to assist Trunks:
- Bubble Shield: deploys a protective bubble around Trunks at the expense of his air supply
- Boost: gives Trunks a speed boost in his current direction
- Repel: redirects enemy creatures away
- Stun: immobilises all visible enemy creatures
- Magnut: attracts all surrounding peanuts
- Relive: grants another chance at life
- Tank: refills the air meter to maximum
GAME MODES:
- Hunger: prevent rapid starvation by frequently munching peanuts
- Numbers: gulp numbered bubbles in the correct sequence; wrong numbers reduce your air supply
- Fetch: collect a target star bubble and return it to the base; air granted only upon return
- Haste: forward velocity is constant; steer clear of danger, if you can
- Patterns: marine creatures swim in geometric patterns; navigate through gaps in the shapes
- Slalom: swim through a series of gates; a wrong or missed gate earns one of three strikes
- Panic: avoid a fatal panic attack by staying clear of certain creatures
CREATURES:
- Lurker: A nasty surprise lies hidden in wait amongst the side rocks - don't get too close
AUDIO:
- 7 new musical compositions to accompany each of the 7 new game modes
- new sound effects
ACHIEVEMENTS:
- target values have been greatly reduced to be more realistic (and less grindy)
- can now be reset (useful when attempting a new difficulty)
LEADERBOARDS:
- each game mode has a leaderboard for each difficulty
- can now be reset (useful when playing against others)
HELP:
- 'Instructions' renamed to 'Help'
- redesigned display (information now categorised under quick-access topics)
- added extensive new information and graphics
- screen edges glow red with warning sound when air/hunger/panic levels critical
- added many new ludicrous in-game messages (including creature/mode specific)
- added new title screen messages
CHANGES:
- [Endless game mode] boss encounters are now more frequent
- [Challenge game mode] peanut target amount and seafloor depth reduced from 50 peanuts in 50 metres to 30 peanuts in 30 metres (to quicken unlocking of new creatures and game modifiers)
- improved Trunks' gasping animations
- Trunks' corpse retains face colour upon death
- turtles and puffer fish now rotate both clockwise and anti-clockwise
- stalker no longer pursues Trunks when leaving view
- rage fish attack sound changed to something less unpleasant
- peanut counter number is now coloured white with shadow for improved readability
- peanut counter now pulses as its value changes
- Trunks' collision detection improved (now less forgiving)
- information panels now translucent to improve readability of content, and given a darkened title bar for extra snazziness
- achievement notification panels now translucent to prevent obstruction of game screen
- graphical tweaks to credits screen
FIXES:
- unpuffed puffer fish no longer flickers momentarily into puffed state when near Trunks' corpse
- stalker no longer freezes in place when looked at, and now drifts upwards as intended
- [Endless game mode] boss arrival halted until area is clear of other creatures (except squids and lurkers)
