As many of you have heard, the alpha test for Don't Die! has started and is now drawing to a close. Many thanks to the testers for their inputs and ideas which will help shape the game into something great. Due to my vacation, there will be no Dev Diary this week and possibly not next week, but I will continue frequent announcements as much as possible.
This is an exciting time; I'm bringing in some people to help out with some art assets and general cleaning up of the game. I have also received a lot of feedback regarding gameplay and I am happy to hear that everyone is happy with how the game is and are about as excited as me to see the finished product.
There is still no news on the availability of modding software. There's a lot to sort out on how to get it to work. Just to reiterate what I've mentioned before, I cannot guarantee availability of the tool on release, but I hope to have it available at some point. I still stand by the idea that the tool will be free to use and use Steam's Workshop.
I also have a few ideas that have come to me regarding things like mechanics and game modes, I will go over a couple real fast.
- One thing that will be done is removal of the Immunity ability. The feedback I have received have all stated that with the pressence of Stealth, Immunity has become obsolete and has become an "easy way out of levels", even with the new Dust system. I completely agree with this input and has been on my mind to change or adjust in some way. What I am looking at now is removing Immunity altogether and replacing it with an ability that is more unique and more well rounded. I will be open to input on a new ability type in the future.
- One game mode idea is to have the timer persistant and count down across all levels. In that time, pausing will be disabled and you will have to complete as many levels as possible before time runs out. This is certainly an idea I love and will likely see implementation in the game.
I appreciate feedback from my testers and I appreciate feedback from the community. I can't wait for the fall release.
Keep posted on my Twitter or the Templarius Games Studios Twitter for updated information in realtime.
I'll keep you all updated on future updates!
