Thank you for an awesome first two months for Outbreak: The New Nightmare! This game is made primarily by a single developer working in their free time (with a little help from some great people from time to time!). It's an incredible amount of effort to keep moving and a labor of love, so it's been fantastic to see the response to the game!
The community has been awesome with providing feedback, driving feature requests and welcoming new folks into multiplayer games! It's been fantastic to see the official Discord channel very active and the interest in the continued evaluation of the game! If you're enjoying the experience, please consider leaving a positive Steam review so others can hear about it!
How Far We've Come...
In the last two months, we've added the following major features and enhancements...
- Significant loading and rendering performance improvements across the entire game!
- A brand new location - The Forest!
- Four new scenarios - Blackout (Experiments), Faith (Campaign), Forest (Onslaught) and Countdown (Experiments) [*}A fully featured leveling up, XP and abilities system independent to each character!
- Classic tank controls option (with 180 degree quick turn!)
- Better DualShock 4 Gamepad Support!
- An official Steam Controller scheme.
- Weapon and enemy balancing changes [*}And a ton of minor enhancements, bug fixes and much much more across the whole game!
And Where We're Going!
Next up on our roadmap is several areas focused around player feedback and interest. The following are planned to be added to the game in the coming ~3-4 months or so...
- The City location (taking place between Outbreak and Faith chronologically) including brand new Campaign, Onslaught and Experiments scenarios (one each).
- The introduction of two new enemies which we haven't revealed yet. (One is quite large, and the other quite isn't...)
- New enemy attacks! [*(]A new player character (with their own unique XP chain and perk loadouts)
- Changes and enhancements to the perk system.
- And more...
A New Platform
While developing the PC-version, I remain hard at work on the Xbox One port as well. It's coming along very well and I'm currently working with the Xbox folks to determine the right time and method for making it available on their platform. No concrete news yet, but I should be able to share more in the coming months!
And don't forget, Outbreak (2D) is on sale through Monday, 8/21/2017!
Please help support the games by playing a great survival horror experience. Outbreak (2D) is the predecessor to Outbreak: The New Nightmare and features a lot of the same great gameplay, but in a more classic 2D aesthetic. Grab it today for 75% off!
