We've had a blistering two months of frequent feature updates, new content and bug fixes. Feedback from the community has been invaluable towards shaping the game and we're very excited for all of the new items on our roadmap. We thought it'd be useful to talk a little bit more about what to expect and when to expect it.
New Location - City
The next location featured will be the city environment, which connects the office environment and the forest environment within the story. After escaping from the building in the Outbreak scenario, you'll find yourself out on the streets. As the city burns, you'll need to find a way to escape the quarantine zone and make your way to safety.
The city scenario will introduce some new mechanics within the campaign scenario, namely a bit more of a cinematic experience as you try to advance. You'll also be facing new threats as new enemies will appear with new attacks. The city location will feature an Onslaught scenario, as well as its own Experiments scenario, which we're not ready to talk about yet.
New Enemies
The next major update will feature two new enemies. One of which will be a powerful boss-type enemy, and the other one will be a new regular threat. These enemies will come with some new animations and attacks, and some of the existing enemies may see some of these benefits as well.
Onslaught Mode will be enhanced to include these new enemy types. You can expect some tweaking in terms of what types of enemies appear, some stat tweaking and maybe some weapon tweaking.
A New Weapon
We're going to also try to make time to add a new weapon to the game. It will likely be a power-tier weapon (i.e. in the rarity range of the shotgun/assault rifle). The goal with this new weapon will be a tool that can walk the fine line between being useful for standard threats, but also putting up a fight against more powerful foes. As such, you can expect that ammo will be somewhat more scarce than handgun rounds, but less scarce than magnum or grenade launcher rounds.
A New Survivor
We're also planning out the 5th survivor to join the cast. We're not ready to reveal his traits just yet, but he'll fill one of the missing niches to act as a support character. When he is made available, he will have his own XP and skill tree.
The Console Port
We're still working with the folks at Xbox to find the appropriate way and time for Outbreak: The New Nightmare to appear. We have nothing new to report in this area, but we'll likely have news in the next month or two. Stay tuned!
When should we expect this content?
We've been releasing at a rapid pace since the game launched and it's now hitting a point where performance is greatly improved, there's a lot of content and it's very stable. We're going to be focusing on the new content outlined above, which will result in less frequent patches and enhancements. You can expect the above to appear probably within the next 3 months, but we'll keep posting updates on progress.
Why will it take that long to make?
Putting all of this new content together is a huge effort for a one person team, so these things take time. Being able to focus on building, and not frequent patching/releases will give me the room necessary to make these changes.
We'll keep doing frequent updates, but the above is the roadmap you can expect. Stay tuned as we show in progress work while it's built and keep sharing the game with your friends!
Thanks again to everyone for your support. We're very excited to continue the project and release awesome new experiences in Outbreak: The New Nightmare! :outbreakzombie:
