Hey Survivors!
Outbreak: The New Nightmare is now listed on Steam!
We're happy to announce that just about a week ago we cleared Greenlight and Outbreak: The New Nightmare is now listed on Steam! This is an exciting accomplishment and puts us into a great position to release to early access in 2017! But don't worry, you won't be waiting an eternity to play...
Our Release Philosophy
Our plans with Outbreak: The New Nightmare is to release early (at a lower price point) and build the game directly with community feedback. The initial Early Access release will feature the first campaign scenario, as well as some bonus content (and be playable in up to 4-player online co-op or in single-player!). We anticipate that the price will rise as content (and feedback) is integrated until we hit the full release. So buying early will ensure you get all of the content long-term at a great price point!
Latest Development
The focus in the last week has been to continue assembling the first major scenario map, including adding all of the cool props that will give it atmosphere. We're happy to say the map is almost together (but missing the game rules) and it's looking great (and meaty)! You can see screenshots from it within this blog post and the main store page has been updated as well. Once we have more content in, we'll post a brand new multiplayer co-op video showing off some new areas of the scenario in action!
Visit our Discord Channel!
We have an official Outbreak Discord channel! It's the best place to get the latest updates (and talk to the developer directly) as the game is built. It's also a great place to find people to play the original 2D Outbreak (by Dead Drop Studios)! Come visit and chat with us!
What's Next?
Now that the first map is coming together, we're going to begin implementing the game logic for the campaign scenario, as well as the bonus Onslaught mode. Onslaught is going to be a bit of a different beast in Outbreak: The New Nightmare. We're not ready to share information yet, but it's going to be an experience that forces you to keep moving and searching rooms for supplies. Stay tuned for more info!
Thanks for supporting Outbreak: The New Nightmare (and the original Outbreak)! We're looking forward to surviving with you in Early Access in 2017!
