Update EA v1.0.5 – Streaming Console

Version 1.0.5 of Vinyl Reality is now available.

The goal of this update was to make footage recorded with Vinyl Reality more interesting and engaging for your audience to watch, by enabling you to select different camera perspectives to display on the desktop mirror, while recording or streaming your set.

You can switch between the different cameras by selecting the corresponding pad on the bottom row of the new streaming console. The leftmost pad, conveniently labeled HMD, will display the feed from your headset.

To see what’s possible, be sure to check out this video that was recorded live using the features of the streaming console:

The streaming console also replaces the old audio recorder and adds some extra functionality, including a display which shows the duration and filename of the current recording.

Please note that the record button on the streaming console only records audio and NOT video. To record or stream video footage, it’s recommend to use an external tool like OBS Studio, which is free and easy to setup.

The streaming console is currently only available in the brand new Recording Studio environment, which was designed to be as optimized as possible and should allow you to record your sessions without any performance issues. This environment also includes a screen which displays the feed from the external cameras when they’re activated.

For the next update (1.0.6) I don’t plan to add any new features, but instead I’ll be focusing on improving performance and polishing the content that is already there. This should give me a good foundation to start work on the next major update (1.1.0), which will add a new club environment with interactive light shows and special effects.
