Version 1.1.3 of Vinyl Reality is now available. This first update of the new year adds several improvements to the record case.
Playlists
The biggest new feature is the ability to load m3u and m3u8 playlists in the record case, which makes loading your track collection inside Vinyl Reality a lot easier. This format of playlists can be created in, and exported from, most DJ, media player and music management applications.
Here are a couple of possible use cases for playlists in Vinyl Reality:
- Creating playlists with tracks sorted by BPM, Artist, etc..
- Breaking up a large music collection into manageable chunks, without having to move files
- Transferring playlists between different apps
If playlists files are found in the current directory, they will be displayed in the record case list beneath the directories. To load a playlist, simply select it and use the enter action to open it. If an audio file included in a playlist is missing, it will be marked red in the record case list.
Performance
I’ve also spent a lot of time improving the performance of the record case. In previous versions, loading folders or playlists which contain a large amount of tracks could take a long time, but with this update it should be almost instantaneous.
