Deciding the Rope Ladder was the better course, the Apprentices make their ascent. Climbing upward and upward, the smell of flowers and foliage becomes more present. Even dried leaves occasionally fall down from the opening above giving the Apprentices hope they will make it out of that filthy, fart-smelling, and forsaken Goblin Town. So upon reaching the top, the sensation of fresh air on their skin and sun on their faces felt absolutely wonderful. Almost as wonderful as the singing voice that cam wafting through the forest.

Speaking of trees, looking back at the ladder's exit, the Apprentices see they were let out of some sort of oaken orifice. The wooden stump was so old and misshapen, it seemed to have a face on its front like a jack-o-lantern. Whether the face had grown that way naturally or perhaps carved long ago, it was undiscernable.
Temporarily distracted by the odd-shaped oak, the beautiful singing voice once again made its way into the Apprentice's ears. Looking up, down and all around to find the source of the noise, they discovered something quite the opposite.

Pines crack and moan as they lean from the oncoming wind. Dirt and leaves come flying at the Apprentices forcing them to shield their eyes from the rushing debris. Then quick as a flash but black as night, a giant winged shadow passes overhead. Icy chills run down the Apprentice's spines and an even colder mist falls over the forest. As a frozen silence settles over the scenery, the serenade of song once again picks up and floats into the air.
With thick trees all around and no navigator, the Apprentices seemingly have only two options on which way they should go...
Will they follow the soft singing voice or the swift and silent shadow?
