Hello, everyone. Thank you for your support.
More solutions to video playback problems are added into WILL: A Wonderful World 1.0.10.142. If you are having any problem, including, but not limited to, black screen, audio-only and crash, when playing video, please follow instructions below.
Windows
Step 1: Install LAV Splitter
Recently, we have found that one of reasons that caused the black screen problem is the built-in DirectShow source filter of Windows 7.
If you are using Windows 7, and this problem is blocking you from your game progress, please download and install K-Lite Codec Pack, which should solve your problem. Either Basic, Standard, Full or Mega should do, since they all have a component called LAV Splitter, which could replace the built-in DirectShow source filter of Windows 7 that caused the black screen problem.
Black screen problems on Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10 are probably NOT caused by the same reason. However, let us know if you fixed it by installing K-Lite Codec Pack.
Step 2: Set Launch Options
If the problem goes unsolved after installing LAV Splitter, please try setting launch options in Steam. Right-click on a game and choose Properties:
Click Set launch options in the window popped up:
Media Foundation is used by default for video playback on Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10. If it fails, please try setting --direct-show to force our game to play videos using DirectShow. This option does not work on Windows 7.
If the problem goes unsolved after using DirectShow, please try setting --lq-video to force our game to play low-quality videos in OGG Theora format, using Unity’s built-in player. This option must be used with caution, as you will enjoy our game less by watching low-quality videos.
If the problem goes unsolved after using low-quality videos, please try setting --skip-video to force our game to skip videos completely. This option must be used with caution, as you will enjoy our game MUCH less by not watching videos.
Playing our game on another computer that can play videos normally, if available, is greatly recommended. Either --lq-video or --skip-video will make you enjoy our game less.
