Today's update adds a hidden option that will hopefully fix some of the sound issues that were introduced when we rewrote our audio backend a few weeks ago.
If you're experiencing static, skipping, or other sound issues when using a surround sound audio device, please follow these instructions:
- Restart Steam to make sure you have the latest version of the game.
- Launch the game, let it finish loading, and then exit. This will add a new entry to your config file.
- Open your config file (config.cfg) in a text editor and change OS.Windows.UseDirectSound from False to True.
- Save your changes and exit the text editor.
- Launch the game again.
On Windows (the only affected platform) your config file is in in the following location:
My Documents/My Games/Opus Magnum
If it worked correctly the game will probably be quieter than last time and, if we're lucky, won't exhibit the same glitching behavior as before!
