Hey there!
We're back one week early with another update! We have a lot of changes aimed at making the game a lot more fun and less stressful to play, and didn't want to sit on those changes for another week. We'll try to keep these quicker updates going with the next one schedules for two weeks from today!
Here's the full list of changes:
STARLYN
- Added a new playable character: Starlyn! She's the intrepid ranged collector. More coming soon (including her arms!).
- Added Starlyn's weapon: the Thundergun! This is an electricity-based weapon that you change up before firing. Be sure to read its tooltip, and try it out in the lab!
QUALITY OF LIFE
- The Beacon now zaps enemies trying to attack it. It's capable of dealing with some groups of enemies all by itself.
- Lowered the health/shields on all monsters by roughly 20%, and increased the number of monsters by roughly 10%.
- The Beacon is now invulnerable during all tutorials.
- Towers are now 50% off on normal mode.
- Unlocking an item in the unlock shop now gives you the item as well.
- Unlocking items for the first time now creates an explanation popup.
NEW & IMPROVED
- Added the ability to control dummy settings in the lab.
- Waves can now be spawned in the lab.
- The lab now displays the amount of damage your last shot did.
- You're now given the compass, automap, and radar in the lab.
- Kain's Bravestar now heals 0.5 health for every enemy overkilled with its power shot.
- Giggordo no longer does double the normal amount of damage for the given world.
- Slowed down Giggordo's missile attack animation. This gives you more time to react to what he's doing.
- Changed up random number generation. This should lead to better randomization of boss selection, items spawning, etc.
- Updated the normal mode description.
- Improved the chieftain animations.
- Slightly slowed down the "Cleared!" display after clearing an area.
- Buyback items in the shop no longer have their price listed (since they don't cost anything).
- Renamed the second tutorial to "weapons & stats".
- Turrets that are overheated now display in orange on the maps.
- Fields are now fully reset when going into the planning phase.
- Added proper menu title graphics for the lab's menus.
- Increased the base damage on the rifle from 35.0 to 42.5.
- Multiple kamikazes will no longer target the same barricade.
- Improved tower targeting. Towers can now lock on to the same target, prioritize marked targets, and choose the highest/lowest health enemy.
- Level 1 machinegun turrets now attack the lowest health enemy, and level 3 machinegun turrets now attack the highest health enemy.
- Increased the marked multiplier of level 2 machinegun turrets from 150% to 200%.
- Increased the marked multiplier of level 3 machinegun turrets from 150% to 300%.
- Increased the number of enemies level 1 marking fields mark before going on cooldown from 2 to 3.
- Increased the number of enemies level 2 marking fields mark before going on cooldown from 4 to 8.
- Increased the number of enemies level 3 marking fields mark before going on cooldown from 8 to 20.
