Hello! I hope everyone who is reading this is well. I'm making an announcement that I will be attempting to remove this product from steam as soon as possible. It should still be accessible in your library, but it will be removed pending approval from steam admins.
Why?
There's a bunch of reasons, but largely I want to focus on a few of the important ones.
1. It no longer properly represents me. I was incredibly depressed while making this product. It represents a part of myself that I wish wasn't publicly available and paraded about in the public space.
2. I don't have the project files to update it anymore, and it is filled with technical glitches and issues that I can't resolve. It can actually be a negative for my career moving forward since it is so broken.
3. I designed this game with a 'twist' suicide ending that I now believe is improper and grotesque. Again, I was in a dark place, but it's not an excuse to be so edgy in a publicly available product. It also doesn't contain any content warnings or anything, so a random steam user coming across it could find themselves harmed by this product.
I don't want to be responsible for my depression-bait art negatively affecting unsuspecting people anymore. It's immature and edgy in a way that just isn't satisfying. Thank you for those who left positive reviews or had a good experience with this, but generally I feel that this is the best course of action possible. I view this as a positive thing. I want to create art that builds, that empowers, that gives meaning beyond a depressed state of mind. I want my vision to be of a better world, not one that is awful and impossible to bear. I want to contribute positively with my time on earth. Removing this product will be a step in that direction.
If anyone is reading this, thanks for the journey. This game got me into an amazing college and an incredible career that I am benefiting from this day. It served its purpose as an outlet of my depression, and removing it marks a step into a healthier future. I hope that if you hear from me again, it's in a wholesome, positive product that is positively contributing to this world.
Thank you,
-M
