Hello!
I'm pushing out another beta update now. This update is mostly a big round of polish for all of the concepts and mechanics that have been added since the last push to the main branch. If all goes well, these changes will soon make their way over to the main branch.
The blocking system has been updated to let the AI position their hands better and more intentionally around their head and body. AI distance-keeping has been tweaked substantially. You'll now find Charong hanging at max range to harass you with straights and Luis trying to get up close to nullify your superior reach. Lunge punches now start from a more sane distance and the AI better handle when you walk into them while they're lunging. The combo timing for the new punch animations now transition better.
The game should be a little more difficult than it has been in the last few beta updates, although the right punch can still end things quickly.
Check out the patch notes below and let me know your thoughts in the feedback thread here or by emailing me at [email protected].
The rollback branch has been updated to the April 3 build in case you run into any game-breaking problems.
Thanks, everyone!
Update Notes:
- Updated the AI block system to allow them to better and more purposefully cover themselves. A few new block poses have been added and block positions have been updated for all opponents.
- Lunge punches have been updated to bring the opponent into more ideal end positions and to make them less likely to send the opponent through your body.
- AI reach and distancing has been polished.
- The AI's combo punches should visually transition to each other better.
- When the AI combos into a left straight punch, it will now impact with more effective mass than a jab.
- Opponents should no longer feel cornered as easily.
- Opponents now bounce off the ropes when they're knocked down into them, instead of just passing through.
- The referee should no longer step outside of the ring.
