Beta Update - April 26

Note: For those looking to try out the beta, you can do so by right clicking the game in Steam, going to "Properties", clicking the "Betas" tab, and choosing the "beta" option from the dropdown.

Hello, everyone!

I'm pushing out a beta update now with some tweaks and polish based on user feedback after the big April 19 update. Check out the patch notes below to read over the changes, but I do specifically want to mention that there is a new antialiasing setting that you will be defaulted to after this patch. This "automatic" setting looks at your current render resolution and decides an antialiasing setting based on that. I've added this because the recent SteamVR with that automatically sets your supersampling value is causing performance issues if it sets your supersampling value too high in combination with the previous default in-game antialiasing setting. If you had previously manually set your own in-game antialiasing level, you'll need to jump in and change it again.

As always, let me know your thoughts in the feedback thread here or by emailing me at [email protected].

The rollback branch has been updated to the April 19 build in case you run into any game-breaking problems.

Thanks, everyone!

May 3 Hotfix

  • Reduced the number of screens in the auditorium from 4 to 2.

April 29 Hotfix

  • Changes to crowd rendering that hopefully further increase performance.
  • Fixes to monitor UI scaling.
  • Turned off collision between ropes and floor of ring.

Update Notes:

  • Added a new poster to the gym for Drunkn Bar Fight. Go check it out if you're looking for a more lighthearted brawling experience - The Munky and I may do some crossover content in the future. I'm looking to add more posters like this to try and fill up the currently mostly bare gym walls.
  • The arena is now called the "auditorium".
  • Added camera feed big screens to the auditorium instead of the scoreboard timer.
  • Added a new antialiasing setting called "Automatic" which automatically sets an antialiasing value based on your render resolution. All players will be switched to this setting after this update, so if you want to use a different value, you'll need to go change this again.
  • Removed arm whip detection from the punch result UI and when using a manual multiplier. There is now a new method in place to handle high velocity whipping punches that works more like the newer auto-calibration method does.
  • Increased the effect of the mass bonus for body movement.
  • Opponents now react more visibly to blocking your punches.
  • Changed Charong to not just constantly throw endless punches at your face from max range.
  • Changed the Chin and Power customization sliders to change by 1% at a time instead of 5%.
  • Removed the initial weigh-in camera flash for Rift users while I look into a problem causing freezes for a small amount of players.
  • General performance improvements.
