It's here! After 4 months and 11 big updates to the beta branch, the new combat changes are finally complete enough to replace what's on the main branch of the game. If you haven't been following along in the beta, prepare yourself for some absolutely massive changes to the core gameplay. Those who were on the beta but prefer to be on a more stable version of the game can now switch back to the main branch without missing too much in the near future.
The changes include a more realistic knockdown system to replace the old "hp bar" style system, rounds, more refined physics interactions, improved blocking, improved AI behavior, and much, much more.
Please do keep in mind that the game is still in Early Access and is still actively in development, and there are bound to be bugs and features still in progress. Everyone is welcome to leave feedback on the Steam forums or directly to my email at [email protected].
Enjoy!
Changes to the main version:
- Made many adjustments to physics between the player and opponent to virtually eliminate your fists getting stuck on the opponent.
- Matches now take place as a scored round system with a referee. All matches are set to three 3 minute rounds with a skippable 60 second break in between.
- New damage system that focuses on force-based knockdowns instead of "hp bars" and reworked how player punch force is calculated, including removing all caps to punch force and adding a system to try to infer how much mass you're imparting into your swings.
- Added in location based weak points to hitboxes. Aim for the jaw!
- Added a menu to allow you to boost your punch force in order to suit your level of strength or the desired effort you want to punch with.
- Improved AI behavior, including blocking, dodging, targeting, and defensive and aggressive states.
- Larger variety of AI animations.
- Many changes and improvements to how the game reads punch force.
- Better utilization of your mapped play space.
- Added Nullspace VR Hardlight suit support.
- Added an optional third-person spectator camera view for your desktop screen.
- Many new sounds effects, and still more to come!
- Various visual changes.
And for those who are in the beta, here are the changes since #15.10:
- Headless Luis is back!
- Made some sound effect adjustments.
- Changed the way the heavy bag suggests difficulty to make it less jumpy.
- Made KO frequency slightly less common for lighter hits.
