This update is available on the beta branch for QuiVr. It can be accessed by going to your steam library, right clicking QuiVr, and selecting Properties -> Betas -> and selecting the 'beta -' branch. You can revert this by going to the same place and selecting 'NONE - Opt out of all beta programs'.
Enemy Performance Improvements
This update has two changes to enemies that should improve game performance, particularly at higher difficulties when more enemies are in the game at a time.
Animation Culling - Previously, enemy animations always ran regardless of their position on screen (even if they were not visible). This is because the damage and audio system was tied to their animations. However, moving that code to a timer based system that uses the length of animation clips instead of current position in the running clip, the game can now spend animation resources only on enemies that are visible on screen. This should be a sizable performance improvement.
Animation Compression - Previously, enemy animations were not modified from their original files. Now however, they use Unity's animation key-frame reduction and animation compression system to reduce the amount of processing required to run the animation.
Performance Reporting
I've turned on performance reporting for this update, which will negatively impact performance across the board due to logging overhead. However I'd like to catch and fix any remaining errors before doing a full branch update tomorrow, so please give this beta version a play through. It will definitely help catch some bugs, even if you don't directly notice them in game (they get submitted automatically to the error reporting system).
