Scoreboard Versioning
Due to the volitility of difficulty between patches (especially as I try to tune game time and difficulty curves), the high scores have been fluctuating dramatically, and with a 7-day shelf life, they can sometimes be more an indication of luck in logging on right before a bug fix goes through than skill from good shooting.
To remedy this, a new variable has been added to the leader boards, which is the Version Number that the score was achieved. This is then compared to a global database value of "ScoreVersion". As of this patch, the global ScoreVersion is 0.35.6, this means and score achieved before 0.35.6 will not be shown on the scoreboards (though it hasn't been cleared away).
When the 0.35.7+ patches goes live, the 0.35.6 scores will still be shown until there is a patch that dramatically changes the difficulty of the game, at which point the ScoreVersion value will change and the scoreboard will only show scores from that patch on.
Please keep in mind that this is only really neccessary at the moment because of how dramatically the difficulty of the game can change between patches, and a reasonable score in one patch may be almost impossible in another, so keeping older scores visible on the scoreboard can not only make good scores in a harder patch irrelevant compared to the higher scores from earlier, easier patches; but it also has the potential to dissuade new players from trying harder if they see outlandish high scores on the leader-board that they have not chance of achieving themselves.
Other Changes
- Shield Bearer weak point more clearly visible
- Particle effect when shield is dropped
- Dramatically improved Spatial 3D Audio Quality
