This update is available on the beta branch for QuiVr. It can be accessed by going to your steam library, right clicking QuiVr, and selecting Properties -> Betas -> and selecting the 'beta -' branch. You can revert this by going to the same place and selecting 'NONE - Opt out of all beta programs'.
Difficulty Changes
This update includes some changes with how difficulty scales in an attempt to remain approachable by new players but still present a challenge to veterans.
Gate Closing - Closing the 2nd and 3rd gate will now increase difficulty by a substantial amount. The 2nd gate increases the difficulty by 50, and closing the 3rd gate increases the difficulty by 150. This happens each time the gate is closed, including restoring the gate via headshots.
This has been done due to watching newer players in the game, which usually stay within the first two gates during their initial runs. This change, in combination with those below, should keep their play areas less stressful, while still maintaining difficulty for those who quickly progress to the end cave.
Difficulty Increase over Time - The difficulty that passively increases over time has been significantly reduces (by 25%), to rely more on active difficulty boosts such as combos and headshots.
This will hopefully give new players a longer play time before being overrun, while the adjustment above should keep the pace moving for more seasoned players
Difficulty Over Time Curve - The difficulty over time curve was originally built for a max difficulty of 100. This has now been fixed to reflect the current scaling of 1-1000. The curve shape remains the same.
Difficulty Crate - The difficulty crate in the second zone no longer scales with the number of players present (which was a bug). Additionally, it has been scaled up to the current difficulty range of 1-1000. It now grants a starting difficulty of 250 (up from 30).
Other Changes
- Continue panel button activation delay is now enabled for singleplayer
- Slight performance improvements when loading into multiplayer
