Thank you so much to everyone who bought the game!
Some of the issues reported by players have been addressed in this fix:
Darkness — a brightness option has now been added.
Sharpen— a sharpen option has been added.
Grandmother anomaly — fixed a trigger that could occasionally cause problems.
Regarding some of the other feedback we’ve seen:
The door does not open properly:
The door uses a drag-based interaction system. If you find it uncomfortable, I recommend switching the interaction mode to Press, which avoids the drag mechanic entirely.
Expectations:
We’re sorry that the game wasn’t what some players expected. Expectations can vary a lot from person to person, and The Door Factory was always intended to be a short, linear anomaly experience focused on atmosphere and uncertainty.
Repetitive or monotonous gameplay:
Some players mentioned this while still having many anomalies left to discover. All 35 anomalies are unique and do not repeat, and the experience changes significantly as you progress. The later anomalies become more dangerous and more complex.
Story and narrative:
The Door Factory does not have a traditional story or narrative. It is intentionally a simple linear experience built around anomalies and the uncertainty of what may be waiting behind the next door.
Comparisons with other anomaly games:
If you prefer games with more hidden details and harder-to-find anomalies, I recommend checking out some of my other games: 8AM, Doll Impostor, The Last Stop, and Doll Inc. Those games contain considerably more hidden and complex details, especially The Last Stop.
The Door Factory focuses more on the experience itself: entering through a door into another dimension, not knowing if you will be able to return, and wondering what the next door will bring.
I’ll also publish another post soon showing all the references used throughout the game!
I’m especially excited to show the Doll Impostor references. Some of them can easily look like normal environmental details if you don’t know the original game, but they are direct recreations and references to another project of mine that means a lot to me.
Once again, thank you very much for all your support! I’ll keep monitoring the game and fixing any bugs that may appear.
