Tracks
0.7 is going to be introducing more track updates to the game. The main eight tracks at this stage are going to be final, however updates for the other tracks will come in time too.
The later tracks in the game have been remade to make them more challenging then they were in 0.6, Utah Project in particular is the ultimate test of your ability to use the airbrakes at the right moments. Aciknovae has also had a large scenery update so it feels more like an industrial complex.
Coming in 0.7 are also two new race types: drag and drift races. At first there is only going to be a track for each race type, and more will be added later down the line. The tracks and ships used for these will be unlocked from the get go until all of the tracks are complete. Drag races use the Barracuda Model B ships and are all about going at insane speeds, drift races use the Barracuda Model C ships are are all about showing off how good you are at driting around wide 90 and 180 degree corners.
Airbrake physics and team handling
The airbrakes have seen a major update. To spare everyone the technical details, the airbrakes cause a lot more drifting while giving you more predictable control over the ship. Teams have had handling updates too, while steering and top speed mostly remain the same, how some ships hover above the track has been altered. Heavy ships now feel heavier while lighter ships feel lighter, everything is being setup and tested so that all ships end up being fairly balanced when it comes to lap times.
Updated ship turntable and other menu stuff
The ship turntable has had an update so that the selected ship is in the center of the screen and rotates.
The menu now has layered music too, new instruments get added to the song as you progress through the menu to the start screen. The background has also had an update, it's a minor change but it adds a bit more color.
The transitions has also had a bit of an update
Target Release Date
0.7 now has a target release date! We are looking to have it ready by the 15th of May. This is another pretty big update and there are many things to update and test. As showcased in a previous progress report, 0.7 is going to be the first version of the game that supports custom tracks with full workshop support. We're excited to see what sort of tracks people make!
Here's some screenshots of the new and updated tracks so far!
