Japan Comes to Train Sim World
The Tadami Line marks the first-ever Japanese route in Train Sim World and the franchise’s first journey into Asia.
Stretching for 88 km between Aizu-Wakamatsu and Tadami, this rural single-track railway takes passengers away from the bustle of the city and into the heart of Oku Aizu.
Dense forests, mountain valleys and traditional architecture surround the railway as it follows the winding Tadami River. Along the way, cross iconic bridges, pass the region’s dam and call at 28 detailed stations nestled among towns and villages.
Every corner offers another view to take in, whether you are driving, riding as a passenger or exploring the route on foot.
Introducing Union Workshop
Tadami Line marks Union Workshop’s first route for Train Sim World, following several successful years creating content for Train Simulator Classic.
The studio brings its experience and passion for Asian railways to a new generation of simulation, delivering an ambitious debut that introduces Japan to Train Sim World for the first time.
Take Control of the KiHa 40
At the heart of the route is the classic KiHa 40 diesel railcar, a characterful train that became a familiar sight on rural railways across Japan.
Available in three distinctive liveries, including JNR Orange, Niigata White and Blue, and Tohoku White and Green, the KiHa 40 can operate individually or in multiple formations to meet the demands of the timetable.
Its narrow-gauge design introduces a completely new driving experience to Train Sim World. Learn authentic Japanese railway operations, respond to new signalling and master the ATS safety system as you take on local passenger services through the mountains.
An accessible Tutorial and Route Introduction will help drivers become familiar with the train, its controls and this new style of railway operation.
A Journey Through the Seasons
Experience the changing face of the Tadami Line across a range of seasons and conditions.
Travel beneath spring cherry blossoms as they bring colour to towns and stations, journey through verdant summer forests or climb into a landscape of snow-covered mountains and frozen valleys.
Five scenarios explore different sections and seasons across the route, offering new views, conditions and challenges with every journey.
Whether you are looking for a relaxing drive or simply want to watch the countryside pass by, the Tadami Line provides a slower and more tranquil experience where the beauty of nature takes centre stage.
A Railway Through Time
The Tadami Line dates back to 1928, when the first section opened between Aizu-Wakamatsu and Aizu-Yanaizu as part of the Aizu Railway.
Over the following decades, the railway gradually followed the Tadami River deeper into the mountains, reaching Aizu-Kawaguchi in 1956 and Tadami in 1963.
In Train Sim World 7, the route is set before the devastating rainfall of 2011, which damaged the railway and suspended services beyond Aizu-Kawaguchi for more than a decade. This setting allows players to experience the complete railway from Aizu-Wakamatsu to Tadami.

The authentic timetable recreates the day-to-day rhythm of the Tadami Line, with services divided into manageable sections to make the full journey easier to experience at your own pace.
Take on passenger duties, complete scenarios or step away from the cab and explore detailed stations, scenic towns and landmarks throughout the region.
Free Roam also allows you to create your own journeys, while Livery Designer, Formation Designer and Scenario Planner provide even more ways to experience the route and trains.
Train Sim World 7 Updates
Tadami Line arrives fully integrated with a number of the new features and improvements introduced with Train Sim World 7.
Enhanced Lighting and Epic Settings
The visual improvements introduced with Train Sim World 7 carry across to Tadami Line, including Enhanced Lighting and support for the new Epic graphical settings on PC.
From bright spring mornings and colourful forests to snow-covered mountains and evening journeys through Oku Aizu, these improvements help bring even more depth to the Japanese landscape.
Live Weather
Live Weather is supported on Tadami Line, with conditions synchronised to Japan.
Choose Live Weather before starting your journey and experience conditions based on the real-world weather for the region, bringing another level of variety to journeys through Fukushima Prefecture.
Improved Dynamic Weather
Train Sim World 7's improvements to Dynamic Weather also carry across to Tadami Line.
Weather conditions can develop and change more naturally throughout your journey, with improved transitions helping create a more believable shift between different conditions as you make your way through the mountains.
Simple Controls
Want an easier way to get started with the KiHa 40?
Simple Controls are supported on Tadami Line, offering streamlined Power and Brake controls for players who want to get moving without immediately learning every cab function.
As with other Train Sim World 7 content, there are some existing limitations around audio and physics when using Simple Controls.
Safety Systems On by Default
Train Sim World 7's updated approach to safety systems also applies to Tadami Line.
The route's ATS safety system is enabled by default, helping players experience an important part of Japanese railway operation from their first journey.
AI Conductor
AI Conductor is also supported, allowing the AI to take care of opening and closing passenger doors for you while you focus on driving the KiHa 40.
Freight Hauler
Tadami Line is focused entirely on rural passenger operations, so Freight Hauler is not available on this route.
With no freight traffic operating as part of the Tadami Line experience, your time here is all about local passenger services and exploring the railway at your own pace.
