On July 5th, we’re releasing our biggest Deceit update yet, encompassing a whole new host of features which we’re further detailing today!
Queue System Changes
- Region Lock Region locks will allow players to select strict limits on regions to play in and select language(s) that they feel comfortable communicating in, helping players to better understand each other in an average game of Deceit.
- Ranked and Casual queues Casual play will allow players to level up, learn the ropes and play with parties of any size. Ranked will require the player to have reached level 10, ensuring they have a reasonable understanding of the game, and will be restricted to parties of two.
UI Overhaul
- Player profiles Like many popular multiplayer games, players will have their own profile allowing them to see their stats and performance in the game.
- Friends list In preparation for allowing players to purchase the game through other platforms instead of Steam, the new user interface will feature a brand-new friends list. Players can add each other as friends by sharing a short code which is unique to them.
- Chat system Players will be able to chat with their friends and party members outside of a match.
- Reputation system Players will be able to commend other players after a game awarding them for a great performance, viewable through their profile. Additionally, players can use in game currency to reward people outside of a match.
- Match history Inside of each player profile they will be able to view their match history, breaking down number games played and their results.
- Patch notes visible in game At the bottom of the UI the version number will be visible with a button which will expand patch notes making it easier for players who skip the Steam update news to understand changes to the game.
High score system
We’re expanding our high score system to give players a variety of goals to aim for as they play Deceit.
- Daily experience leader board Resetting every day, players can compete to collect the most experience by winning games, completing objectives and helping their teammates. Each day, the players who collect the most will receive a reward.
- Reputation leader board To celebrate the players with the best reputation, we’re introducing a leader board for everyone to see. Acting as a natural shout out to the friendliest teammates, the most altruistic antidotes and fierce yet honourable opponents.
- Season ELO leader board Continuing the competitive trend, each season will maintain an ELO leader board allowing the diehard challengers to build on their rivalries as they continue to show who’s best at Deceit.
Win of the day
Resetting every day, players will receive bonus experience for their first win allowing them to unlock their favourite cosmetics a little bit quicker.
Unified profile level
- No more character levels! Users will now level their profile instead of levelling each character individually, as before each level will unlock coins for the loot booth.
- Ranked unlocked at level 10 New players will be defaulted to the casual queue to learn the ropes until reaching level 10 and unlocking ranked play.
- Prestige Levels Profiles will be able to level up to 99 before automatically being prestiged allowing them to do it all over again unlocking unique rewards and more loot.
Unified traits system and trait re-balancing
Traits selected across characters
Traits will no longer be locked to characters allowing players to build around their favourite playstyle while playing the character they enjoy the most. We’re keeping a close eye on how this pans out and expecting to rebalance and adjust some traits accordingly.
Werewolf Terror form skin
Introducing a brand-new style, the werewolf skin will come complete with unique sound effects, paying homage to the classic board game.
New Characters
Two new unique and original characters
Also with the update we’ll be introducing two new and unique characters each with their own style and cosmetics. They will have their own separate reveal soon!
