Protonwar - Patch 0.11

Protonwar - Patch 0.11

Hi Team!

This patch is quite significant in a few ways so i decided to post up a small write up here.

First big thing i would like to announce is the addition of Gamepad support.
This will function in the Seated VR, and Non VR game modes! :-)
This means, just to make things easier that i have updated the seated vr menu navigation to be based off the direction you are looking at. Simply move your head around to move the cursor, then press "Space bar" or "Right Trigger" to select an item in the menu. If you are having issues with the cursor being off center, please rotate your character using the right stick (this will be resolved shortly)
In the last patch i also added a fancy new cursor, that animates when you click on things, just to improve usability in the UI.

Second big thing i would like to announce is the inclusion of a new teleportation system.
The teleport function in Standing VR now uses a parabolic arc. This means that you can now teleport up onto ledges, or down onto ledges.
Use the teleport the same way you used to "Left Facepad Up" on the vive motion controller. If you are trying to get to an area where you cannot reach, the teleport effects will display as red. If you are good to GO, they will display as blue, release the trigger and zap to your new location!
Dont forget that this will use up some of your energy stats, so keep an eye on this and reserve it for pulling off that quick escape, or grabbing the epic health before your enemy does!

Third thing is the inclusion of a new announcer!
There is now many more voice announcer calls setup, with a nice meaty sounding announcer voice to pump you up during the fight.

Fourth thing
There are some small HUD changes in relation to movement with the HUD. If you stand still not moving the HUD will no longer rotate with you, once you start to move forward it will snap to your rotation.
This is just the very very very beginning stages of the changes that i will be making to hud, to make it a bit cooler, and hopefully help with orientation. Lets see how this small change pans out for starters.

In the background, we have been doing some optimizations around network performance, and improved it a bit in the previous patch. I will be keeping an eye on this but at the moment the network performance should be very good, so gear up your mates, and give it a shot.
We will soon have the Steam friends list integrated directly into the game, just to make this a bit easier for you.

Please note that the new gamepad support, does not allow you to play against motion control users, they are separate game modes.
How ever we do plan in the very near future to branch out the holo mode to the seated vr and non vr users.
Also keep in mind that this is initial support, that will be tweaked a bit in the future. Things such as slowing the character down while scoping, toggling walk run etc, are not implemented as of yet.

One more thing, if you are getting a crash to desktop from the game, we have detailed instructions over here:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/461410/discussions/3/366298942100280873/
about what you can do before submitting a bug report to assit with speedy resolution.
If you get a crash first try restart the game, see if it happens again, then try restart your PC, and ensure that your video drivers / windows updates are up to date before submitting a report.

Here is an image of the currently assigned gamepad controls, they are currently not editable from the menu, but this is another feature that will be added very shortly.
