Hello again!
Thanks to some helpfull people we have tracked down what i beleive was causing the cursor issues some people are having in the first menu screen.
I have now updated the game to handle the menu input quite differntly and this should resolve this issue. If this does indeed resolve it for you, can you please leave feedback so that we know it is resolved.
Thanks.
If you are using an HTC Vive, please ensure that you have your motion controls turned on when trying to use the menu.
If you are using an Oculus Rift you can now navigate the menu using either the mouse, or your head. If you do not see the mouse cursor, wiggle your mouse around and it should show up!
If you have issues clicking on something, make sure you are focused on it.
I have also made some fixes that should resolve alot of the crashes that people where having.
Things that may cause crashes that you can try:
Older video drivers, have you tried the newest?
Video cards getting too HOT, try lowering graphics options.
Video capture software such as Geforce Experience/Shadow Play, disable any such software if it is causing an issue.
Beta SteamVR clients, i really do not recommend running the beta software here, as it can cause all sorts of unforseen technical issues.
Any background software that steals window focus, This really should not be an issue, but it is worth mentioning, some times software can steal window focus, and this can crash direct-x. VERY rare, but it can happen.
There may still be a crash everynow and then it is a complicated system and we are working around the clock to get everything sorted!
NOTE ON HARDWARE SUPPORT!
There where some crashes reported by people that where running pre-retail vive or rift units. These issues should be resolved BUT i will only be supporting RETAIL units. If you have a pre-retail rift or vive and are getting crashes, this may be the cause. The reason for this is purely because we do not have sources to test these sorts of crashes on.
GENERAL NOTES:
If you find text hard to read in the menu, please try clicking "SET RECOMMENDED SETTINGS" in the video settings screen, this should help out. Alternativly if you have fast hardware you can use the slider to adjust the resolution percentage, this is what everyone refers to as super sampling.
Settings we find work good:
GTX 770 - min specs, 130%, shadows low, postprocessing low, aa low.
GTX 1080 - super duper specs, 170%, high settings, AA is probally worth keeping at low.
NOTES ABOUT CHARACTER MOVEMENT ON VIVE
We have been testing out some changes with community help and feedback and hope to have differnt options for controls in the future.
There will be at least 2 differnt locomotion control schemes for the Vive controls that will be selectable via the menu.
These changes will come within good time and we will start testing these more rigorously starting next week!
NOTES ABOUT CONTENT / LEVELS
We will be added new content such as levels, and graphical themes for levels during the course of early access. Plans are currently to have a group of set themes, and to have multiple differnt levels using those themes.
If you wish to vote / suggest themes that you would like to see please head over to the community page and voice your opinions! :D
I have also made the following fixes and changes today, some features requested by the community:
Patch Notes- 8/07/2016
Jump Boots mutator added! (Thanks for the idea Joe!), in the base game this gives you an extra high jump, in standing VR it will allow your character to jump using the "Left Motion Controller, Down on the D-Pad", for laughs, try jump boots and low grav!
Assault rifle bursting adjusted, now bursts faster, with a shorter gap between bursts (may tweak the speed still)
Teleporter Indicator HUD for VR Teleport improved
Fixed some of the Steam Achievements
Cleaned up AI sensing code in Holo mode
Cleaned up some of the VR UI for readability
Fixed bug with character name
Set camera to fade to black on death to help with sim sickness (temporary to improve comfort)
I hope that with all these fixes you can all start fragging each other in VR!
