Whirligig 3.897 beta update now with Oculus Touch support

Hi everyone

This is an early release of the latest version of Whirligig. I wanted to release this now as I think I've got the Touch controls working to at least a usable stage and I want to provide this to you knowing that I won't be able to release another version for at least another week. During that week I'll be working hard on making the Touch controls more usable and fully testing it for the default release.

It also includes some bug fixes, plugin updates and room updates.

This version hasn't gone through the testing process I usually do and with adding a new controller system it might add more bugs than remove them. I hope not. If you do find issues let me know and I'll do my best to fix them for the next release. One issue I'm aware of is that when you reset the controllers they will appear briefly if you're using the Oculus. This will be fixed in the next update.

Bug fixes

Fixed films always starting at 00:01.

The progress disappears straight away when playing films.

Fixed issue with reducing the the radius to below 3. This was introduced in the last beta when fixing the low fps in the menu.

The latest Oculus SDK disables the gamepad inputs when not using the Oculus. This has caused any use of the controllers with other headsets to not work. I've built in a new gamepad system which hopefully will replace this. The only difference will be that when the game window is not in focus the gamepads won't work. This is standard for the majority of Unity apps.

Rooms

I've replaced the bedroom and living room with better placement and better maps.

Touch Control support

The touch controls react to movement of the controls. If the controls aren't moving for a few seconds it will default back to the head control system. The laser pointer will also link to which ever controller is moving first so you can just use one controller if you want to. The trigger button is select and the side trigger is switch controllers.

The models and textures of the Touch controls have been provided by Carbon Games and you can find more details about them here http://carbongames.com

Updating to the Beta if you haven't done before

If you haven't used betas before they are pretty easy to do. To change to a beta right click on Whirligig in Steam, click on properties, select the beta tab and select the latest beta from the dropdown menu. The player will then update to the latest beta.

If you find that this breaks Whirligig for you, you can reset Whirligig back to it's default settings. To do this change the beta option back to none and follows the instructions in here.
