I lied about this the previous version being the last beta update. I worked hard on getting out a new version before Christmas and released the beta version but didn't want to update the default version until I knew I could support it properly. Supporting stuff over Christmas isn't that easy. Since then I've worked on a new version and continued to fix bugs and generally improve things. Hopefully the Oculus touch support is better and I've worked on updating plugins, fixing more bugs and improving the menu system to remove clutter and make it more cross compatible.
So without further ado here here are the highlights of the updates.
- I've made it select VLC video lan if media foundation is selected and Windows 7 is being used. This also includes hiding Media foundation as an option in the video render path option in the settings.
- I've Set Media foundation to be the default option for playback so that when people purchase the player they can have better default support without having to install codecs. I would always recommend using Directshow and install the LAV codecs but having Media Foundation as a default option first is a good way of introducing people to the player.
- I've worked on the menus and control options to remove some of the less used icons and improve the look of some of the other selectable options. This is partly because I need to improve these things but also to make cross compatibility with the Vive controllers and the Touch controllers.
- Worked on the Touch detection and fixed some little issues relating to it.
- Fixed issue with Media foundation not jumping to the location that is in the save.
- Fixed the loading of the correct Gamma for videos that haven't be seen yet.
- Upated video and gamepad plugins.
So these are the highlights. Whenever I'm working on Whirligig I try and fix bugs along the way and also improve optimisation so there are little fixes here and there as well.
