With launch week past us we've collected all intel we could on the released builds out there and compiled an internal priority list of what we need next.
Here's what we've learned:
- + The game seems pretty stable. After we quickly fixed the 2 crashes that people encountered in the beginning we have had no reports of more.
- + Most of you enjoy the physicality of the cars
- + The graphics look OK for the most part
- + The soundtrack is great
- + The tracks are pretty good
- - The game needs more variety in the races.
- - Menus are a bit confusing and cumbersome especially in league mode (car shop, upgrades in particular)
- - It takes too long to find out where your records stand for the Steam leaderboards. It takes to long to retry beating times.
- - AI on Lower difficulties are too easy and uninteresting because the AI can't overtake when going that slow.
- - Starting cars are a bit too slow and hard to handle.
So based on that, here's what we're currently working on. Size in parentheses is work required to complete it, from small to huge:
- More E class cars. (small)
- Tweaks to cars and AI on lower difficulties. (medium)
- Track selection and emphasis on Steam leaderboards on leaderboards main menu (medium)
- A new track (medium)
- Restart race option after a race. It is very complicated to change unfortunately. (big)
- An overhaul of all the league menu UI. Garage, shop, upgrade, repair are all undergoing heavy redesign at the moment. (huge)
- An improved object system and a few other things for our internal track editor. This will enable more dynamic elements in the races. (huge)
- + more UX and gameplay tweaks.
As you can see the list includes some heavy code changes which means it'll take anything from a few weeks to a couple of months to get this done. We'll try to do smaller updates in the meantime with new cars and tweaks but the focus is on the big stuff because those enables us to do the most valuable improvements in the long run for our players.
Thank you for playing, and even though we might be quiet for a while now and then we're still working hard on the game, unless we say otherwise. We're doing our best to be transparent with our plans and open to feedback. I want to especially thank Rafael, Sarky and Nokando for taking the time to write in the forums and for all the youtubers for making videos we can learn from.
Until next time! Race on!
