Dev Blog #73: Pre-Launch Update, 2 Days to go!

Hello everyone! Just 2 short days to go before launch; the time sure is flying.

We'll have a larger post on Thursday, covering things from current state of the game, to roadmap, to bug reporting, and more. In the meantime, we wanted to address a few questions and bits of feedback you guys have been posting.

Q: When does PAMELA unlock? Why can't I BUY BUY BUY now?

A: P.A.M.E.L.A. will unlock at 9AM EST on Thursday March 9th. As much as we appreciate your enthusiasm, we unfortunately can't make the "buy" button active until release, due to Steam's internal workings. The download size is currently around ~3.5GB, so with a decent download speed you won't have to wait toooo long after purchase to jump in!

Q: How much will P.A.M.E.L.A. cost?

A: After much deliberation and discussion, we've set on a price of $24.99 USD (or your regional equivalent). There's a huge amount of content and world to discover within Eden, and beyond that, we have several major updates planned for the coming months. Stay tuned for thursday's post for more details about those plans.

Q: Where did full controller support go?

A: A bug came up recently in which controllers did not function in the Main Menu; we've since fixed the bug, and will be updating the feature listed on the store page in the next day or so once the final release build is uploaded.

Q: Will there be a non-permadeath mode?

A: PAMELA was always designed and balanced with Permadeath in mind, and this will always be the "Standard" way to play, but ultimately we want all of you to enjoy the game and survive within Eden in the way that's right for you. To that end, we'll be adding a non-permadeath game mode for those of you who prefer a less punishing playstyle, and don't mind game balancing being somewhat less fine tuned.

Unfortunately there will not be time to implement this before launch on Thursday, but rest assured this is something we'll be looking into in the near future.

Q: Will there be a "peaceful" mode?

A: Similar to the permadeath point above; obviously, PAMELA has been designed heavily with combat in mind, with a whole host of NPCs to encounter and fight/sneak around, but again we do want to accomodate everyone's interests whenever possible. We'll be looking into this after release as well.

Thank you for all the amazing support and feedback so far! We are reading and listening to all of the comments and feedback here. While we can't promise to make every single person happy, we will defintely be doing our best to make sure you enjoy P.A.M.E.L.A. to the fullest extent we can muster.

Anyway, time to get back to work! We've knocked off another 170 bugs/improvements so far since last post, and we'll be working up to (and beyond!) release to continue this momentum.

See you thursday!
