Happy Friday, Sleepers! Been awhile since we've done an "official" devblog, and since we're working on some big stuff behind the scenes, it seemed like a great time to put one together.
In between fixing bugs and stabilizing the game, we've been implementing various balance tweaks in terms of item spawn rates, distribution, hunger, thirst, and more, with the constant goal of improving playability and fun factor. From your feeback, these changes have seemed to be going in the right direction overall and have been well recieved, which is great!
However there's a few nagging issues that we've not entirely been able to sort out, with our current systems. Primarily, base building and achieving sustainability is still too heavily based on RNG, which is a big problem. While PAMELA is designed to be a challenging experience, we don't want you to feel like you're battling a lottery system instead of the afflicted.
We've got a plan to address this in a big way, which we're already well under way implementing. We'll need a few more weeks on this one before it's ready for showtime, but we're very excited about this for-now secret update in the works.
Aside from this, there's a few major "quality of life" improvements we'd like to implement; improving the usefulness of the mini-map, alternate hacking minigame that relies on logic more than reflexes, IVG/Container loot streamlining, food spoilage (and preservation), improved tutorials, and a lot more.
Last but not least - We've got a new District in the works, which has been previously completely inaccessible and will come complete with a new Cryo Bay spawn point. We'll keep it's identity secret for now; once we've got more to show we'll post a screenshot or two to tease!
This last week we began a big push towards some of these goals, and starting soon we will have a steady stream of content and improvements coming. Some of these changes are pretty significant and therefore require a fair bit of testing, but we promise they will be worth the wait.
We'll have an update coming later next week with the usual bunch of bug fixes along with some new content, so stay tuned for that. Just wanted you guys to know we're still alive, and have some big additions in store!
Thanks as always for all the great feedback which has informed us on these decisions; we think you'll be pretty excited with the changes we're working on. Until next time!
