Hello Seekers, and a happy friday to you all!
If you checked out our last post, you'll know we've been working on a major update behind the scenes. Since we've decided to double down and focus 100% on getting these new features in, we've forgone the regular patches these last few weeks.
But trust us, it'll be worth the wait. Here's a few of the things we've been working on:
We've got a new spawn intro scene, following the cryo tube animation, from PAMELA herself. This is just the start of the narrative plans we have for PAMELA so stay tuned for further additions here in the future. (p.s. you will now skip the cryo sequence by hitting space bar a few times!).
The IVG has been enhanced to use an omni-directional pulse rather than the forward-swipe method from launch. Also, you'll now be able to open containers without scanning them if you choose, by simply holding "e" for a short moment when aiming at them. These both help to streamline the looting and exploration process, which we're pleased to see.
There's a new type of non-hostile NPC - Sec-RTs!
See those busted robots? Now you'll be able to find working models throughout the world!
We've updated a certain area in Eden, now including a new doorway which will connect to the next area we're working on. Who will find it first?
But lastly, the feature we're most excited about and have been working tirelessly on these past few weeks...
The Engineering Interface, Resources, and Harvesting - Coming soon!
We've added pickaxes! Everyone loves those right?
Ok, kidding. Our number one goal with PAMELA has always been to create an enthralling, cohesive game world for you to lose yourselves in. When brainstorming ways to improve your involvement and agency within the world, we only considered options that would make sense within the lore of the universe.
What we've done in this update is create a brand new IVG interface, new resources within the world, and new IVG functionality allowing you to collect and manage these resources.
Once you've collected these materials, you'll be able to do a variety of things; construct new items, enhance items, and repair items. This system will allow you to take much greater control over your progression through the game; want to build a huge base with an arsenal of turrets? Go ahead! Want to fully upgrade your suit of tricarbyne armor? No problem. You'll just need to track down the resources to do so.
We'll have a more in-depth guide on how this system works when the update goes up. There's a ton of new stuff to play with and discover, and we can't wait to put it live!
Unfortunately all of these overhauls mean that we'll need to wipe existing save files in the next update, but we think you'll agree all the new goodies are worth the tradeoff.
So, that's what you can expect to check out in the next update. We're aiming for late next week for this to go live, so we can keep testing and balancing things to a reasonable degree before you get your hands on it. Apologies for the lack of patches in the meantime; hope you're as excited as we are for this update!
