Ahoy! Since the very first day of Early Access in December we received tons of feedback about what people want to see in Tempest. Open world is the most wanted feature. It's not a small task, but the game got such warm welcome from Steam community that we decided to give it a shot. This devblog will be updated on a constant basis by Avreliy.dev. He is a lead developer of Tempest, this project has been his lifework for the last two years and he is extremely honest about what is possible and what is not. This should be interesting. Comments, feedback and suggestions are most welcome.
I continue setting up the way the ship copes with waves. Sometimes it looks like this:
In the first-person mode, I have added markers showing the wind direction:
Here is a view from the largest ship in the game:
Other improvements:
- Logical sequencing of events has been improved. Now several things don’t happen all at once.
- Player gets Leviathan's Claw when being damaged by a monster. Their rating in the Searchers’ faction also increases with each stroke. Leviathan’s damage is reduced.
Due to player demand I have added AZERTY support and also remapping.
I have made a double setup for the keys, it also should work for a joystick:
Gamepad buttons can be used instead of keys.
Meanwhile, I’ve tried to put some cannons on the deck… as there are no holes in the hull for them. It looks kind of weird, but one the other hand it gives me an opportunity to find out what exactly I should do with this.
I’ll probably disable that feature in the final version. Later, those guns will be used in the first-person mode for aiming, and after firing they’ll roll back...
Other improvements:
- When entering a port from a global map any battles can now be ignored.
- Auto battle is with us again.
- Kingdom Deposit has been changed. Previously the rate was 1% per month, and now it is 2% per week. So you get it at a better price…
