Update (4th Jan 2016 - archived announcement from Greenlight page)

Just a quick update on how things are progressing. Other than a week off visiting family and friends over xmas, Subsistence has seen many updates and improvements in the last few weeks. Here are a few notable updates (among many):

  • Improved npc AI. This includes improved path-finding and aggressive behavior towards players in their bases.
  • In-world vegetation spawns (berries, fibers, etc). These items are already integrated into the core in-game economy and crafting system.
  • Refined player movement physics, and tweaked many animations to improve gameplay fluidity.
  • More base building pieces (including Wood Foundation Stairs, Compact Roof, etc).
  • Skins for damaged base structures.
  • Further expanded world.
  • Countless bug fixes and general improvements.

Much of the work (which isn’t mentioned above) has been prepping the game for the MP alpha, which I *hope* to start within a week. I’ll post another announcement when ready to bring in new alpha testers willing to participate in MP testing.

Note: The current starting loadout is very much placeholder, and will change in time for the multiplayer. New spawns will not be armed with shotguns and rifles ;)

Happy new year!
