I'd like to take a minute to most sincerely apologize for the errors upon launching the game through Steam. This was by no means anticipated, and it is not excusable.
You should all be able to still play the game through the fixes I've written in the Game's Discussions titled "Launch Troubleshooting". Please go through that thread and examine the possible fixes.
I have sent a detailed report to Steam and we will have to see what can be done soon.
You have your consumer right to skepticism, that I can completely understand. I clearly have missed something important and I thank you for your patience and generous support.
