Update v1.18

WARNING: Terrain generation has changed! You may load a game inside a wall or mountain. There is an easy fix -- select "Location Rescue" from the pause menu. It will reset you somewhere safely.

WARNING #2: Accuracy numbers will be displayed differently to better reflect a weapon's behavior. A weapon that previously had 40% Accuracy will now show 0% (since 40% was the lowest number before this update). Accuracy has been increased for multi-shot weapons, too.

Primary Changes

  • The primary change in this update is cleaning up the starting area -- you should be more likely to start in a flat base with more important stations.
  • Buildings should also no longer be buried by terrain in certain situations.
  • Increased hitboxes for smaller targets (normal robots, antbots etc.)
  • You can now hit legs of antbots & spider bots.
  • Mac users should now be able to set resolution by changing the "resolution.txt" file in the base 5089 installation directory. First line is the resolution width, second is the height.
  • Rare runtime crash fixed (reported on phr00t.com).
  • Other smaller fixes, like blue overlay showing over GUI in water, typos & beam sounds.

New changes in v1.18:

  • Accuracy number display changes, described above.
  • Reduced accuracy penalty from multi-shot (shotgun) weapons.
  • Fixed recoloring ammo boxes.

I updated the GLFW & LWJGL 3 libraries. I'm hoping this will help Linux users & others with odd GLFW-related problems. I haven't confirmed these will resolve issues yet, but using the latest will make sure if it was fixed elsewhere already -- 5089 will have the fix.

Having problems with accuracy or difficulty?

Don't forget there is a "Game Speed" option (under "Effects Menu"), where you can slow the game down. Might make it easier to learn the ropes at a slower pace.

Projectiles seem to be distributing as expected across the crosshair. I've increased the hitbox & legs should now properly register hits.

Accuracy tips: your first item may not be very accurate, although pick up a Launcher if you want the best base accuracy "out of the gate". However, it will come at a cost of fire rate. Homing is another stat to look out for, which will help shots hit their mark. Hoverboard use will allow you to "hover" in a direction while not taking any movement penalty on accuracy. Finally, constructing an item with a scope will give you the best long-range accuracy when the scope is used! Always be on the lookout for better rarity weapon parts with better accuracy (among other important stats). Once you find a part you really like, build a complete weapon around it.

An important part of this game is improving/customizing your items & picking the right tool for the job! Guns, as with many other items, have different use cases & stats. Don't forget there always is melee attacks, which can be very fun to use!

I wasn't able to get everything I wanted to in this update!

I'm still going through feedback & there are some important things on the to-do list:

  • Leaders not appearing (or being duplicated) at the top of violet towers. A possible workaround, if one doesn't spawn, is to open the map. Pan the map far away, so the tower disappears. Then, close the map. The tower you are in should get reloaded & the spawn point for the leader at the top may get reset. This is both a bug & a current possible workaround. ;-)
  • Item comparison feature.

Thank you again for your support & feedback! I'm going to keep working on another update & let me know how this one goes!
